General Summary: R esponsible for performing a variety of complex accounting functions to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the College's financial records. This position plays a key role in monthly and annual closing processes, account reconciliations, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, audit support, internal controls, and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and College policies. The position independently analyzes financial information, researches and resolves accounting issues, and supports financial reporting and process improvement initiatives.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Reconciles investment, bank, and other asset and liability accounts for the College and its separately owned entities, investigating and resolving discrepancies and maintaining appropriate supporting documentation.
2. Maintains accurate fixed asset records, including acquisitions, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, and reconciliation to the general ledger.
3. Prepares and reviews journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries to ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP and College policies.
4. Supports monthly, year-end, and annual closing processes by preparing reconciliations, schedules, roll-forwards, and other financial documentation.
5. Prepares cash-flow statements and forecasts and analyze cash receipts and disbursements to support cash management and financial planning.
6. . Records and reconciles income and expenses for the College's rental properties, ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping and financial reporting.
7. Prepares audit schedules and supporting documentation and coordinate with external auditors and CPA firms during annual audit and tax preparation processes.
8. Analyzes financial information, research and resolve complex accounting issues, and identify unusual or inaccurate transactions.
9. Maintains accurate financial records and supporting documentation for the College and its separately owned entities while maintaining appropriate internal controls and confidentiality.
10. Supports special projects, financial analysis, system implementations, process improvements, and other accounting initiatives as assigned by the Controller.

REQUIREMENTS

Education : BBA or BS with a major in Accounting.

Experience : Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably including experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting and audit support.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Proficiency in Excel and accounting ERP systems
• Ability to analyze financial information and identify unusual or incorrect transactions
• Ability to research and resolve complex accounting issues independently
• Ability to independently review accounting transactions, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance with GAAP and College policies.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet established deadlines
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
• Ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings clearly to management and non-accounting personnel
• Ability to adapt to changing systems, processes, and organizational need

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
