Job Description Summary The Staff Product Designer is a strategic leader responsible for defining and shaping the future of enterprise product and service experiences within complex industrial environments. You will operate at the intersection of human behavior, data, and business strategy to identify unclear problem spaces, align stakeholders around priorities, define success measures, and turn complex system challenges into actionable design direction across multi-product platforms and business-critical workflows. Job Description Job Summary The Staff Product Designer is a strategic, hands-on design leader who shapes complex product experiences across multiple engagements. Focused on AI-enabled experiences, this role translates ambiguous problems into clear product direction at the intersection of user needs, product strategy, technology, and business outcomes. Working with product management, engineering, and UX leadership, this designer leads through expertise, facilitation, and high-quality design execution rather than direct people management. Key Responsibilities Product Strategy and Facilitation Translate customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints into clear product opportunities, experience principles, and measurable outcomes. Lead cross-functional teams through story-mapping workshops to align on user journeys, define scope, and prioritize incremental delivery. Apply systems thinking to connect near-term product decisions to longer-term platform and portfolio strategy. AI Experience and Innovation Define human-centered interaction models for AI-enabled products, including conversational, recommendation, and decision-support experiences. Balance automation with human oversight, transparency, and user control while applying responsible AI principles throughout design and evaluation. Help teams identify where AI creates meaningful value and use AI-assisted tools to accelerate exploration while maintaining human judgment. Product and System Design Lead design from early product definition through detailed interaction design, creating journey maps, workflows, prototypes, and production-ready specifications. Design cohesive experiences across products, workflows, and user roles, applying established design-system patterns and proposing improvements. Plan and conduct user research, including stakeholder interviews, usability tests, and focus groups, to validate design direction and uncover unmet needs. Use research insights, product data, and business evidence to inform and evaluate design decisions. Design-to-Code Quality Partner with engineering to ensure implementations align with approved designs, intended workflows, accessibility requirements, and design-system standards. Review prototypes, builds, and pull-request artifacts to identify experience risks before release. Establish scalable design-quality practices, strengthening connections among Figma specifications, reusable components, acceptance criteria, and implemented experiences. Demonstrate comfort working in code-based and AI-assisted development environments to build, edit, or refine functional prototypes and collaborate more effectively with engineering. Cross-Functional Leadership and Team Enablement Serve as a strategic design partner to product and engineering leaders, aligning customer value, business priorities, and technical feasibility. Communicate product and experience strategy clearly to technical, business, and executive audiences, making assumptions, dependencies, and tradeoffs visible. Provide critique and mentorship that strengthen the judgment and craft of other designers, and contribute reusable guidance that improves delivery across the organization. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. At least 8 years of professional experience in product design, interaction design, or user experience, including complex enterprise or platform-level initiatives. A portfolio demonstrating problem framing, interaction design, systems thinking, prototyping, and product impact. Experience partnering with product management and engineering throughout the product lifecycle, including design systems and design-to-code workflows. Demonstrated ability to influence product direction without formal authority. Strong working knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices. Experience contributing to design systems and collaborating with engineering on reusable components. Experience using product analytics, customer feedback, and other evidence to evaluate product outcomes and inform design decisions. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of front-end technologies, including HTML and CSS, with the ability to understand how interface designs translate into implemented experiences. Experience using code-based and AI-assisted development environments to build, edit, or refine functional prototypes. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
