ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled ICU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality care to patients who require intensive monitoring and treatment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with unstable hemodynamics and respiratory distress.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips, including but not limited to Levophed, Dopamine, and Dobutamine.
• Conduct telemetry management, including interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of cardiac conditions.
• Provide conscious sedation and care for various post-operative patients.
• Utilize rapid response teams effectively and participate in IV insulin protocols and blood product administration.
• Care for central and peripheral lines, including PICC line management and heparin protocols.
• Manage isolation precautions and provide care in accordance with hospital policies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in an ICU or similar environment.
• Experience with arterial lines, rapid response procedures, and telemetry.
• Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Certification required.
• Proficient in managing complex patients, including those with chest tubes, CPAP/BIPAP, and high-flow nasal cannula.
• Ability to float to a sister unit as required.

Scheduling and Requirements

• 12-hour day shifts with a target patient ratio of 1:3-4.
• Availability for rotating weekends and potential floating to ICCU.
• Orientation during the first week, including EKG testing.
• Maximum of 7 days of scheduled time off permitted for the first offer.

Special Procedures and Equipment

• Experience with bedside telemetry monitoring and ability to recognize and address dysrhythmias.
• Familiarity with special equipment, including A-lines, BIPAPs, and chest tubes.

Scrubs

Navy, white, or a combination of the two.

Patient Demographics

Caring for a diverse patient population including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with various diagnoses including respiratory distress, GI bleeds, and post-operative care.
