Project Electrical Engineer – Bess Date: Dec 15, 2025 Location: Overland Park, KS, US; Jacksonville, FL, US; Houston, TX, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Opportunity Type: Staff Relocation Eligible: No Full time/Part time: Full-Time The Opportunity Lead Electrical design for Battery Energy System Storage (BESS) facilities Manage electrical engineering staff on diverse and challenging projects across our portfolio of design services and EPC programs Oversee Electrical design quality, budget, and schedule Build business relationships with clients to understand needs and drivers The Team Black & Veatch is ranked #4 overall in Power by Engineering News-Record (2025). The Technology, Commercial & Industrial Team focuses on advanced manufacturing, data centers, and distributed infrastructure. Specialized areas: Substations; Renewables Integration; HVDC/FACTS/STATCOM; Datacenters Integration; BESS Integration. Key Responsibilities Develop knowledge and provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes and company policies. Ensure compliance with company quality program and support continuous improvement. Prepare complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, develop recommendations, and perform advanced calculations. Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements; delegate to team members. Coordinate with internal and external teams on moderately complex projects. Assist with identifying client interests, communicate drivers, and develop approaches to meet needs. Provide technical consultation and guidance; design complete projects or support complex challenges. Participate in mentoring, performance management, and resource management. Handle administrative responsibilities: policies implementation, adherence to corporate programs, approve timesheets and expense reports. Preferred Qualifications Electrical Professional Engineer’s license in a US jurisdiction. Consulting experience (BESS experience preferred). EPC execution experience. Strong communication skills with internal interdisciplinary teams and external clients. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering; minimum 5 years related work experience. Must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).
