Roads Chargehand

Job Purpose The Roads Chargehand will be responsible for supervising a team that maintains the road network. Location : West Tullos Depot Duration : Permanent, Full Time Roles that require PVG Membership From 1 April 2023, candidates for roles requiring PVG membership will cover the membership cost if their full‑time equivalent salary is £30,000 or above. The Council will initially pay the cost, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members or £59 for non‑members, which will be deducted from the employee’s first month’s salary. Minimum Requirements Full Driving License (Class B, C, or D) with CPC Certificate, or appropriate plant operator certificate, or demonstrable specialist skill. Required Experience and Skills Experience supervising and coordinating resources. Proven ability to work on own initiative within a squad. Logical and analytical problem‑solving ability. Experience supporting the management of contracts and contractors. Strong teamwork and independent working skills. Effective communication skills. Capacity to manage a real‑time workload while delivering on key objectives. Experience in supervising staff. Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements and ability to implement them.
