Diagnostic Sonographer - Ultrasound

Position Summary Embark on an exciting career as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer at Quinte Health. The full-scope role includes ultrasound exams across general, obstetric, vascular, musculoskeletal, interventional procedures, breast clinic work, and ultrasound-guided biopsies. Hours: 8‑hour days & evenings, Monday to Sunday, subject to change with notice. This position is open to new and future graduates, offering hands‑on experience under supervision of registered sonographers. Graduates will be compensated at a Non‑Registered Technologist rate until registration is completed. Recruitment incentive up to $10,000 may be available for qualified candidates. Requirements Member in good standing of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) or a future graduate actively pursuing registration. Graduate of an accredited program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (or future graduate/student). Current registration with Sonography Canada, or eligibility upon graduation. Valid liability insurance as defined by CMRITO, or eligible to obtain upon registration. Initiative, organizational, and decision‑making skills. Strong computer skills. Excellent communication skills for courteous, effective interaction with physicians, patients, and team members. Physical stamina to handle a demanding workload. Availability for all shifts, including weekends, statutory holidays, and on‑call duties. Duties Perform all general and special ultrasound procedures such as MSK and vascular imaging according to Standards of Practice. Daily upkeep of equipment and ensure adequate supplies. Archive and retrieve data to/from PACS. Report equipment deficiencies to Charge Technologist/Manager. Instruct and evaluate students during clinical rotations. Report unusual or inconsistent findings to the radiologist. Assist in orientation and training of new technologists. Provide highest quality service aligned with continuous quality improvement principles. Maintain courteous behavior in communication with coworkers and patients. Engage in continuing education for professional growth. Serve on call rotation with other sonographers as scheduled. Maintain general knowledge of ultrasound services and department policies. Assist clerical staff with booking urgent examinations. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Strength: Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling. Mobility: Frequent standing and walking on hard surfaces; occasional walking, crouching/squatting; frequent bending, twisting, turning, reaching. Dexterity: Frequent handling of objects, fine finger movement, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist movements.
