Whether you're rotating product, checking in deliveries, or helping a customer find what they need, your work makes a real difference every single day.If you enjoy staying active, take pride in a job well done, and thrive working as part of a team, we'd love to have you on our team.What You'll DoNo two shifts are exactly the same, but here's what you can expect:Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting every customer with a smile, assisting them with their needs, and going the extra mile to make their shopping experience a great oneReview the status and appearance of merchandise for freshness and replenish and rotate product to maintain quality standardsEnsure an adequate product supply is ready and on hand; develop or follow a production list and anticipate daily product needs for the departmentCheck in product, put product away, and review invoices as neededPrepare, finish, and replenish product as necessaryPractice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe at all timesRemove trash in a timely manner and assist with general department upkeepOrder product and supplies and price products for customers as neededAnswer the phone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who callFollow Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all department and company guidelinesPitch in with other tasks or special projects as they come upYour SkillsYou don't need extensive experience for this role; we'll provide the training you need to succeed. To hit the ground running, you'll need to be able to:Bring commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and a genuine passion for helping customersFollow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detailApply basic math skills including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recordingCommunicate clearly with customers and co-workers and contribute positively to the teamLearn and apply proper sanitation, food safety, and department proceduresReporting RelationshipsAccountable and Reports to: Store Director; Store Manager; Assistant Managers of Perishables, Store Operations, Health Wellness Home; Produce Department Manager; Assistant Produce Department ManagerEducation and ExperienceLess than high school diploma or equivalent experience acceptedSix months or less of similar or related work experience; we'll provide all the training you need to succeedPhysical RequirementsFrequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areasWhere applicable to the role: ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparationWhere applicable to the role: exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipmentWhere applicable to the role: ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standardsPerform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation dutiesWorking EnvironmentThis is a fast-moving role where things stay busy and engaging. You'll work in the produce department and can expect frequent exposure to temperature extremes and dampness, as well as possible equipment movement hazards, electrical equipment, and cleaning chemicals and solvents.
