Staff Nurse (RN) - Post Surgical/Step Down Unit Anne Arundel Medical Center - Annapolis, MD Part Time (.6 FTE) - Day/Night 12 hour Shifts Position Objective: Contributes to the provision of high-quality, cost-effective healthcare as a provider of direct and indirect patient care and by effective collaboration with the healthcare team. Clinical Decision Making/Judgment Demonstrates clinical nursing knowledge and skill in the specialization of the unit. Applies the nursing process effectively in the care of culturally diverse patients and families, utilizing applicable laws, policies, standards, guidelines, and evidence-based practice. Organizes and reprioritizes patient care activities based on environmental changes. Thoroughly assesses patients to collect data and identify learning needs according to standards and policies. Uses assessment data to develop individualized problem lists for patients. Develops and individualizes care plans based on standards, priorities, and goals. Implements care plans efficiently following policies and guidelines. Proficient in medication administration, pain management, and unit-specific skills. Evaluates the effectiveness of care plans, revising as needed based on patient responses. Nurse-Patient Family Relationships Assesses learning needs and barriers of patients and families. Develops, implements, and evaluates teaching plans. Applies knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. Provides culturally, developmentally, and ethically appropriate care. Addresses physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and learning needs in care plans. Clinical Scholarship Participates in quality improvement, CPI, and risk management activities. Improves processes to meet quality standards and benchmarks. Supports evidence-based guidelines and policies to ensure safe care and practice environment. Clinical Leadership Participates in shared governance. Involved in education and orientation of new staff. Delegates and evaluates patient care activities. Uses real-time computer documentation for patient records. Educational/Experience Requirements: Graduate of an accredited nursing school. Meets AAMC credentialing requirements as per nursing bylaws. Required License/Certifications: Current RN licensure in Maryland. BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands: Exposure to blood-borne pathogens may occur. Physical Demands: Medium work; exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly. The physical demands and work environment described are typical for this role.
