International Minerals Carlsbad, INC., is seeking an experienced, safety-focused Shaft Hoist Supervisor to join its mining operations team in Carlsbad, New Mexico. This position is responsible for supervising shaft personnel and hoist operators, coordinating daily operational activities, and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient shaft and hoisting operations.

The Shaft Hoist Supervisor is a hands-on operational leader who spends the majority of their time in the field, providing direct supervision, coaching employees, monitoring equipment conditions, and coordinating activities between underground mining and surface operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational readiness, supporting equipment reliability, and achieving established safety and production objectives.

• Provide direct supervision and leadership to shaft personnel and hoist operators, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations.

• Demonstrate visible safety leadership through personal adherence to International Minerals Carlsbad LLC safety policies, established procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

• Maintain a strong field presence by conducting routine inspections and observations throughout assigned operational areas.

• Ensure shaft and hoisting activities are performed in accordance with established safety standards, operational procedures, and applicable Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) requirements.

• Recognize employees who demonstrate safe work practices and provide constructive coaching when unsafe behaviors or noncompliance are identified.

• Lead toolbox talks, monthly safety meetings, and other employee safety discussions to reinforce hazard awareness and safe work practices.

• Conduct LEGO safety observations, document findings, and implement corrective action plans to address identified hazards and operational concerns.

• Monitor assigned work areas to ensure compliance with safety, mining, equipment, and housekeeping standards.

• Coordinate daily shaft and hoisting activities with underground mining crews, surface operations, maintenance personnel, and other departments.

• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to resolve operational challenges and support IMC's commitment to working together and achieving shared objectives.

• Organize and manage crew assignments, workflow, and operational priorities in accordance with company standards and production requirements.

• Identify and communicate equipment concerns, maintenance needs, and operational issues that may affect safety, production, or equipment availability.

• Coordinate with Maintenance and Operations personnel to support timely equipment repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and operational readiness.

• Monitor crew performance and provide direction, coaching, and training to reinforce safe work practices, accountability, and operational effectiveness.

• Address employee performance, attendance, scheduling, and other personnel matters in accordance with established company policies and procedures.

• Maintain accurate employee timekeeping, attendance, scheduling, and vacation records using Kronos.

• Support employee development through hands-on instruction, mentoring, and reinforcement of established operating procedures.

• Promote a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment that encourages communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

• Participate in safety investigations, corrective action activities, and operational improvement initiatives as assigned.

• Perform additional supervisory and operational responsibilities as required.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Demonstrated leadership experience in an industrial, mining, or comparable operational environment.

• Knowledge of MSHA hoist rules, regulations, and applicable mine safety requirements.

• Strong understanding of workplace safety practices, hazard recognition, risk management, and safe operating procedures.

• Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a strong safety record and promoting a culture of accountability.

• Proven ability to supervise, coach, train, and motivate employees in an operational environment.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple departments.

• Ability to organize work assignments, establish operational priorities, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced industrial environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify operational concerns, evaluate potential risks, and implement appropriate corrective actions.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication and collaboration with management and operational teams.

• Demonstrated dependability, consistent attendance, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

• Ability to maintain accurate employee records, operational documentation, and supervisory reports.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Maximo, Kronos, and Workday.

• Ability to lead employee training, reinforce operational procedures, and promote compliance with established safety standards.

• Willingness and ability to spend the majority of working hours in the field supervising shaft and hoisting activities.

• Associate degree in Mining Technology, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Five (5) years of underground mining experience, including at least two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position.

• Previous experience supervising shaft personnel, hoist operators, or underground mining crews.

• Experience coordinating maintenance activities, equipment availability, and operational priorities in an underground mining environment.

• Experience using computerized maintenance management systems, workforce management platforms, and employee timekeeping systems.

• Demonstrated experience leading safety meetings, conducting field observations, and implementing corrective action plans.

This is an on-site position in Carlsbad, New Mexico , supporting shaft and hoisting operations within an active underground mining and surface industrial environment.

The Shaft Hoist Supervisor will spend the majority of their working time in operational areas, including shaft facilities, underground mining areas, and associated surface operations. Working conditions may include exposure to industrial equipment, elevated noise levels, dust, vibration, changing temperatures, and other conditions commonly associated with mining operations.

The position requires frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and operational leadership to coordinate activities, resolve equipment concerns, and maintain safe and efficient operations.

The Shaft Hoist Supervisor must comply with all applicable MSHA requirements, company safety policies, and established operating procedures. Required personal protective equipment must be worn in designated operational areas.
