Lead Aerospace CNC Machinist – Setup

Location: Portland, CT
Pay: $28- $41/hour

Job Purpose

We are seeking an experienced Lead Aerospace CNC Machinist to perform machining operations and machine setups for the manufacture of complex, tight-tolerance aerospace components across multiple manufacturing cells.

This position requires strong CNC setup experience and will also provide leadership and guidance to other machinists while ensuring quality, safety, and productivity standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and other manufacturing machines to produce precision aerospace components.
• Perform machine setups and make necessary adjustments to maintain production and quality requirements.
• Provide direction and guidance to other machinists.
• Review work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters.
• Read and interpret blueprints and GD&T .
• Ensure finished components meet required dimensions and tolerance levels.
• Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
• Use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, depth gauges, and size blocks.
• Maintain established quality and safety standards.
• Maintain equipment, tooling, supplies, and accurate production records.
• Troubleshoot machining and setup issues.
• Identify opportunities for process and productivity improvements.

Education & Experience

• 6+ years of CNC machining/operation experience
• CNC machine setup experience required
• Experience working with complex, tight-tolerance components.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
• Ability to perform shop math, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Understanding of process improvement and manufacturing efficiency.
