RESTAURANT SYSTEMS MANAGER/IT DIRECTOR

FULL TIME

METRO DETROIT

COMPENSATION: $80,000 - $100,000 + bonus + comprehensive benefits

We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented POS System Administrator / Toast Specialist to oversee the backend architecture, menu management, and technical configuration of the Toast POS platform (and others) across our growing restaurant group.

In this role, you will serve as the corporate "Super User" and technology gatekeeper. You will be responsible for everything from building complex menu structures using Master Menu Management (MMM) to configuring third-party integrations, training and implementation of the systems, and troubleshooting in restaurants as needed. The ideal candidate has deep technical knowledge of the Toast ecosystem, paired with an understanding of multi-unit restaurant operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Menu Architecture & Database Management: Build, update, and maintain complex menu hierarchies, nested modifiers, pricing strategies, and tax configurations across multiple locations using Toast's Master Menu Management (MMM) .
• User Access & Security Control: Act as the primary corporate gatekeeper to provision, modify, and audit employee roles, backend system access, and terminal passcodes.
• System Integrations: Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain third-party API integrations, including online ordering platforms (DoorDash, UberEats), scheduling software (7shifts, HotSchedules), and accounting tools (Restaurant365).
• Hardware Routing & Configuration: Oversee the backend routing configurations for Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), handheld Toast Go devices, and hardware/receipt printer networks.
• Data & Reporting Auditing: Build custom reports, audit backend sales/inventory metrics, and ensure database consistency across all restaurant properties.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Serve as the internal tier-2 technical escalation point for location managers before routing issues to official Toast Support.

Qualifications & Experience

• Required: 2+ years of direct, hands-on experience managing the backend dashboard of Toast POS for a multi-unit restaurant group or hospitality enterprise.
• Required: Proven experience using Toast Master Menu Management (MMM) or managing multi-location menus.
• Preferred: Official certification or advanced training through Toast Classroom (Toast Certified Expert status is a major plus).
• Strong understanding of restaurant operations, kitchen workflows, and database logic.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to manage third-party software integrations and APIs.
• High level of data precision and attention to detail.

Ideal candidate:

• Proven leader who has thorough expertise on the back end of setting up, configuring, and maintaining the Toast POS platform
• Experience building POS systems that align with HRIS/payroll systems, particularly working with Toast.
• 3-5+ years of experience of restaurant, hospitality, and/or multi-unit retail technology
• Hands-on experience with major restaurant platforms (e.g., Toast is a MUST, other POS system experience is an added benefit : Aloha, Micros/Oracle, Square, Olo, Par, Punchh, Restaurant365, or similar)
• Proven success leading multi-location system rollouts and integrations
• Ensure systems are integrated, reliable, and scalable across all locations
• Strong understanding of restaurant operations and unit-level economics
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
• Develop and own a multi-year restaurant technology roadmap aligned with business goals and growth plans
• Evaluate emerging tools and trends (AI-driven forecasting, kitchen automation, digital ordering) and build business cases for investment
• Manage the technology budget, vendor contracts, and ROI reporting
• Oversee the full restaurant tech stack, including POS, kitchen display systems (KDS), online ordering and delivery integrations, reservations, loyalty, inventory, scheduling, labor management, and payments
• Lead new restaurant openings from a technology standpoint, including hardware, network, and software deployment
