Diabetes Educator

Diabetes Educator, RD Bettendorf, IA | Full‑time | Day Shift Position Overview Reports to Manager within the Genesis Health Group. This role is a member of the interdisciplinary health care team, responsible for assessing and addressing the nutritional needs of diabetic patients, formulating and implementing evidence‑based nutrition care plans, and actively participating in improving the organization’s nutrition function. Key Responsibilities Assess the nutritional needs of patients and their readiness to make lifestyle changes necessary to maximize health outcomes related to diabetes. Formulate and implement nutrition care plans based on evidence‑based nutrition practice. Collaborate with physicians, medical staff, and other health professionals to deliver comprehensive diabetes education. Provide continual patient education and counseling to support behavioral change. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with established policies and procedures. Participate in quality improvement activities and interdepartmental initiatives to enhance the nutrition care function. Licensure: Registered Dietitian in Illinois upon hire; must obtain Iowa license within 12 months. Certification: Must obtain CDCES certification within 24 months of hire. Experience: More than 2 years clinical experience required. Special Training: Basic Life Support. Interpersonal Skills: Moderate difficulty and sensitivity in communication, capable of handling detailed and lengthy dialogues and moderate‑level problem situations. Physical Demands: Low intensity; primarily seated work with intermittent walking; occasional manual dexterity required up to 35% of the workday. Working Conditions: Limited exposure to adverse conditions; safe environment with minimal health risk; no special safety equipment needed. Possible Exposure: Blood‑borne pathogens: Yes.
