Network Technician

Join our team in Indianapolis, IN, where you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. We are seeking a motivated individual with a strong technical skillset to assist in the installation and maintenance of our network infrastructure.

Requirements
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Candidate must drive their own vehicle.
  • Technical skillset with the ability to follow installation standards and possess good comprehensive skills.
  • Telecom background, with experience in the installation of Fiber Optic Cable and Testing.
Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize hand tools, testing instruments, and computerized devices for installation and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose network or equipment issues under pressure and provide timely solutions.
  • Ensure accuracy in installations, repairs, and documentation to prevent service interruptions and compliance violations.
  • Maintain tools, test sets, and electronic equipment including fiber optic transmission equipment, Lightwave multiplexing equipment, AC and DC power equipment.
  • Assist in the installation, provisioning, testing, and maintenance of DS0 through OC192 services.
  • Monitor and locate routes, execute restoration in the event of a service interruption, and proactively respond to potential problem areas to ensure network integrity.
  • Update installation records, log information on trouble tickets, and provide status updates and reports on assignments.
  • Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance and inspections on equipment and critical infrastructure, including HVAC systems and high-voltage electrical systems.
  • Assist in the installation, change, decommissioning, and testing of Next Generation technologies such as Edge Compute, Wavelength, Fiber Optic transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers.
  • Utilize industry-standard software and hardware tools to accurately locate, mark, and protect underground outside plant facilities.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of company and customer materials.
  • Learn and use systems and applications required to perform job functions effectively.
  • Provide regular status updates and reports on problem situations to management.

This is an entry-level position with normal work hours of 7-4 or 8-5, with no on-call requirement.
