Job Summary:
The step down unit nurse specializes in caring for patients recovering from cardiac procedures and surgeries within a facility located in Newburgh, Indiana. The position involves working night shifts from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., with a focus on cardiac recovery, post-procedure monitoring, and observation patients. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of orientation.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (6:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.), minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Indiana Single State registered nurse license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications, NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, Associate Degree or Certificate, minimum of 2 years of experience in specialty, at least one completed travel assignment, EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system experience, and location requirement of Indiana within a 40-mile radius of the facility
• Preferred Qualifications: None specified
• Float: Float to other cardiac, stepdown, or telemetry units may be required, with nights floated at least once a week
• Additional Information: May require precepting of students and new hires; up to three call-ins may result in termination.
• Experience includes skills such as starting intravenous lines, radial artery sheath removal, TR bands, arterial line management, titrating cardiac drips, cardioversions, interpreting Tele/12-lead electrocardiograms (EKG), and managing post-procedure patient care.
