Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist
- Accept and dispense prescription medications
- Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
- Ensure medicines are within the law and suitable for patients
- Maintain and manage patient records and pharmacy files
- Advise patients on medication use, side effects, and drug interactions
- Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications
- Educate patients on medical devices and provide patient services
- Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
- Supervise pharmacy staff members
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems to healthcare practitioners
- Work in conjunction with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements of the Pharmacist
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
- Licensed by the state pharmacy board
