Village of Fox Lake Employment Opportunity Recreation & Events Manager Job ID Code #26-07 Starting Salary Range: $61,000-85,000 Benefits Package: Comprehensive benefits package FLSA Status: Full-time, Exempt position Background The Village of Fox Lake (population 10,978) is located 55 miles northwest of downtown Chicago and 20 miles west of Waukegan, Illinois. Fox Lake is located in Lake and McHenry counties. The Village is located on the South Shore of Pistakee Lake, Nippersink Lake, and Fox Lake, three connected water bodies that form part of the Chain O’Lakes system. The Village of Fox Lake has a total area of 9.942 square miles of which around 20% is water. The Village offers a vibrant lakeside community with thriving local businesses, recreational amenities, and a focus on sustainable growth. Duties And Responsibilities The essential functions listed below are intended to illustrate the type of work performed. Plan, coordinate, and implement community events, festivals, and public engagement initiatives. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of recreation programs for youth, adults, families, and seasonal programming. Coordinate event logistics including vendor management, staffing, participant experience, setup, and onsite operations. Serve as lead operational coordinator during assigned Village events, including troubleshooting operational concerns and coordinating with staff, vendors, volunteers, and public safety personnel. Develop and implement marketing and promotional strategies for Parks & Recreation programs and events. Manage social media content, graphic design, website coordination, and promotional materials. Assist in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of assigned program and event budgets. Build and maintain positive working relationships with residents, businesses, community organizations, vendors, instructors, and Village leadership. Provide operational direction and oversight to part-time, seasonal, and volunteer personnel during recreation programs and events. Perform other duties as assigned or required. Qualifications Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation Management, Tourism, Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Valid driver’s license required and must be maintained throughout employment. Experience in recreation programming, event management, marketing, community engagement, or related municipal/community services preferred. Must be able to successfully pass a pre‑employment physical and drug/alcohol screening following a conditional employment offer. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge of parks and recreation programming and community event management. Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills. Experience with marketing, social media engagement, graphic design, and digital communication platforms.Ability to coordinate multiple projects, events, and operational priorities simultaneously. Ability to exercise independent judgment and respond effectively to operational issues during programs and events. Ability to build positive working relationships with residents, businesses, vendors, volunteers, and Village staff. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, marketing platforms, social media management tools, recreation registration systems, and graphic design software.

WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT

This position regularly requires evening, weekend, and holiday hours based on operational and event needs. Work is performed in both office and outdoor event settings and may involve standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working in varying weather conditions during community events and recreation programs.
