Bakeshop Supervisor

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience

Expected Hours: 30+ hours per week (Full-time)

Schedule: Varies based on business needs and includes opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts. Additional hours may be required during peak seasons, staffing shortages, call-outs, or other operational needs.

Position Summary

The Bakeshop Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of a Butter Pecan Bakeshop retail location. This hands-on leadership role oversees customer service, in-store baking, product quality, team performance, and overall store execution. The Bakeshop Supervisor works the majority of weekly shifts and plays a key role in maintaining a clean, efficient, and customer-focused environment while ensuring high operational standards.

The ideal candidate is dependable, trustworthy, organized, proactive, and passionate about creating exceptional customer experiences. They lead by example, coach team members effectively, and take ownership of store performance while supporting a positive and collaborative workplace culture.

Bakeshop Supervisors operate within a team-based leadership model. While assigned to a primary store location, Supervisors may occasionally provide support at other company locations during planned vacations, absences, staffing needs, or other operational needs. This collaborative model allows Supervisors and store teams to provide and receive backup support across locations to help maintain consistent operations and service standards.

Essential Functions

Retail Operations & Supervision

• Open and/or close the retail location for the majority of scheduled shifts.
• Lead daily store operations and ensure smooth service throughout each shift.
• Supervise retail team members, assign workstations, manage breaks, and maintain appropriate staffing coverage.
• Maintain operational efficiency while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Ensure retail displays are fully stocked, visually appealing, and aligned with company standards.
• Resolve routine customer concerns professionally and elevate significant issues when necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-ready environment.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards.
• Build relationships within the local community and identify opportunities to promote the store through neighborhood outreach, local businesses, schools, organizations, events, and community partnerships to help increase brand awareness and drive store traffic.
• Participate in store marketing and promotional activities, including community outreach, local events, partnerships, and social media content. Bakeshop Supervisors are expected to be comfortable appearing on camera and participating in photo and video content to promote the store and build community engagement.

In-Store Baking & Product Quality

• Perform in-store baking using established procedures, and equipment.
• Ensure all products meet company standards for quality, consistency, freshness, and appearance.
• Train and coach team members on baking, preparation, finishing, and product handling procedures.
• Monitor baking schedules, oven temperatures, product rotation, and food safety practices.
• Manage production levels to maintain product availability while minimizing waste.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and labeling of products and ingredients.

Team Leadership & Development

• Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training retail team members.
• Reinforce company service standards, operating procedures, dress code requirements, and performance expectations.
• Create, publish, and adjust employee schedules.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and accountability in a professional and respectful manner.
• Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive workplace culture.
• Foster collaboration between retail and other company departments.

Inventory, Cash Handling & Administration

• Monitor inventory levels and communicate product and supply needs proactively.
• Complete daily cash handling responsibilities, including drawer counts, reconciliations, and deposits.
• Prepare and transport bank deposits using company-approved procedures.
• Ensure proper FIFO inventory rotation and storage practices.
• Maintain required operational logs, records, and reports accurately and on time.

Safety & Compliance

• Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
• Identify and report maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns promptly.
• Ensure compliance with health department regulations and company policies.

Multi-Location Support

• Collaborate with other Bakeshop Supervisors as part of a regional team-based support model.
• Provide leadership coverage during vacations, staffing shortages, special events, training periods, or emergency situations.
• Occasionally work shifts at another company location when business needs require.
• Assist with coordinating support staff between locations to maintain operational consistency and service standards.

Additional Responsibilities

Work Environment

This position operates in a retail bakery environment and involves exposure to heat from ovens, cold storage environments, and frequent interaction with customers. The role requires regular use of bakery equipment, POS systems, and computer-based tools.

Physical Demands

Travel

Minimal travel required. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel between company locations for operational support, training, meetings, bank deposits, or coverage as needed.

Required Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum two years of experience in a retail, food service, hospitality, lead or supervisory role required
• Baking experience required; professional bakery or in-store baking experience preferred
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English

Additional Eligibility Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Current California Food Manager Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire
• Must be willing to sign and comply with company confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements to protect proprietary recipes, operational procedures, business and customer information, and other confidential company materials
