Job Title: Director of Physical Performance

Department: Physical and Occupational Therapy

Reports To: President and CEO

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Job Summary: Responsible for directing the overall functions of Physical and Occupational Therapy. Coordinates and supervises day to days operations of the department. Maintain performance improvement activities within the departments. Assure competency of all staff members; assist in formulating budget, evaluates department performance versus budget and takes appropriate action to remain within budget guidelines. Develop and implement system of reviewing department charges, ensures that patient files are thorough and accurate and that all charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis. Maintain efficient and effective department operation while requiring compliance with all state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.

• Responsible for direction of the Therapy Services departments and the staff in each department

• Coordinates rehabilitation services with other hospital disciplines

• Provides direct care to patients of all ages, as needed

• Ability to observe and evaluate treatment effects and recommend changes to physician if necessary

• Ability to perform an appropriate assessment on all patients as related to the therapy requested

• Formulate a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness of learning

• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of all rehabilitation services modalities

• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity. Identify and address needs and concerns of the patients and family

• Interact professionally with patients and family in the formation of the plan of care

• Serve as a liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers

• Maintain patient confidence and protects hospital operations by keeping information confidential

• Communicate appropriately to physicians, community, staff and administrative team

• Manage and maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, regulations and joint commission standards

• Maintain records pertinent to personnel and operation of the department

• Prepare reports regarding rehabilitation services, i.e., utilization, performance improvement, service data, outcome data, productivity, including long term capital budget and short term operation budget

• Prepares quarterly Quality Assurance Reports and reports findings to QA Committee

• Demonstrate the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations

• Maintain a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments

• Provide education to staff on performance improvement

• Ability to plan and organize orientation and in-service training for department staff members and participate in guidance and educational programs

• Perform management activities including, interviewing, hiring, evaluating and terminating department staff members

• Conducts regular staff meetings

• Conducts marketing activities to promote referrals

• Comply with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions

Requirements

Education & Experience

Graduate of an approved school of Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy, with a degree to practice any of the above. Must have three to five years of clinical experience with at least one year of supervisory experience

Licenses and/or Certifications

Licensed in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy.

BLS certified

Working Conditions

Work is generally performed in an office environment, standard office equipment generally used: telephone, computer, printer, etc. Potential exposure to chemicals and communicable diseases and related waste.

Salary Description

$44.52 to $51.64 per hour
