The Ultrasound Technician is a graduate of an accredited AMA school and is registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). They maintain a State License as a general radiographer and/or are a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). Responsibilities include providing timely diagnostic services to both inpatients and outpatients under the direction of a Radiologist and according to departmental protocols. Tasks encompass performing abdominal, pelvic (including gynecological & obstetrical), and transvaginal sonograms. Additionally, proficiency extends to scanning small parts such as the thyroid, breast, and scrotum, as well as conducting ultrasound-guided procedures including biopsies, drainage, thoracentesis, paracentesis, and aspirations.Key Responsibilities:Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with departmental protocols and physician instructions.Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain high-quality images for interpretation by Radiologists and other healthcare providers.Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures, maintaining professionalism and empathy.Document and maintain accurate patient records, including medical histories, imaging results, and procedural details.Collaborate effectively with Radiologists and other medical professionals to review images, discuss findings, and contribute to patient care plans.Maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.Stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology and techniques through continuing education and professional development.Educate patients about procedures, answering questions, and addressing concerns to enhance their understanding and comfort.Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited AMA schoolMust have vascular experienceRegistered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT)State License as a general radiographer, and/or is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS).2 years of relevant work experienceRVT registry RequiredEpic experience requiredBLS required
