Field Engineer

Field Engineer Location: Dundee, MI Job Id: 380 # of Openings: 1 Position Summary Spicer Group is seeking an experienced construction Field Engineer to support construction administration and inspection services on a variety of public and private infrastructure projects. This position serves as a key on‑site representative, observing work in progress to verify conformance with plans and specifications; interpreting requirements related to materials and workmanship; documenting daily inspection activities; and communicating field conditions, issues, and progress to the Project Manager and Construction Manager. The Field Engineer works independently on projects with complex features, collaborates in project meetings, coordinates with clients and contractors as a liaison, and prepares sketches and record information to incorporate field changes into master plans while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and company standards. Responsibilities Observe work in progress to ensure conformance with specifications Examine workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards Interpret specifications related to materials and workmanship Participate and provide input during project meetings Prepare sketches of construction installations that deviate from plans and incorporate changes into master plans Maintain daily inspection report of construction inspection activities Serve as fully qualified representative capable of performing with little supervision Work independently on projects with complex features Report periodically to the project manager and construction manager May oversee and provide direction to other construction services technicians Act as liaison between client, contractor, and project manager Apply company standards, plans, and specifications Apply appropriate procedures for resolving construction issues Maintain equipment and vehicle in good working condition, and report any problems or repairs needed promptly Maintain current status with all learning management system (LMS) training as related to safety Physical presence is an essential function of this job.
