Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the Joint Activities, Directorate of Security, Fort Bragg, NC. Responsibilities Serves as a Security Specialist responsible for performing a full range of tasks relating to the planning, development, management and direction of all aspects of the organization security program (Information, Personnel, Physical and Industrial). Develops guidance and provides assistance regarding physical security. Monitors planned physical modifications, direct changes in physical layouts as necessary in order to give final approval for all Secret Open Storage Areas. Administers policies and procedures governing the personnel security program. Processes security clearance investigations request in accordance with DoD Directives and Regulations of the military branches concerning the personnel security program. Develops procedures regarding classification procedures to include marking, downgrading and declassifying, handling, storing, and transmitting of classified material; resolves questions and problems concerning the same. Analyses security needs and prepares educational materials to provide the most current information on all areas of security. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience serving as a Security Specialist responsible for performing tasks related to the planning, development, management and direction of all aspects of the organization security program to include Information, Personnel, Physical). AND Experience in the administration of personnel security programs policies and procedures to include processing security clearance investigations requests and determination. AND Experience monitoring and coordinating the Information Security Program to include marking, downgrading and declassifying, handling, storing, and/or transmitting of classified material. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS -11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program. This is the Department of Defense {DoD) Security Certification Program directed by DoD Instruction 3305.1. This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
