Mechanical Design Engineer I Full‑Time in Thornton, CO - Engineering Design & Manufacturing Team Summary Forge Nano Inc. is a fast‑growing materials company with a focus on manufacturing nano‑scale coatings across a wide range of markets. Forge Nano is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their Engineering Design and Manufacturing Team. Key Responsibilities Support mechanical design of subsystems and components for process equipment platforms Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings using CAD tools Assist in design reviews, incorporating feedback to improve performance, reliability, and manufacturability Work with senior engineers to define design requirements, interfaces, and tolerances Generate and maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) and engineering documentation Support prototype builds, system integration, and troubleshooting activities Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and cost targets Participate in root cause analysis and design improvements based on test or field data Ensure designs comply within internal standards, safety requirements, and applicable regulations Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field 0–2 years of relevant experience (internships/co‑ops acceptable) Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCad) Understanding of mechanical fundamentals (mechanics, thermals, materials, GD&T basics) Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills Ability to work in a team‑oriented, fast‑paced development environment Preferred Qualifications Experience designing for vacuum systems, fluid systems, or semiconductor equipment Familiarity with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, etc.) Exposure to system integration or hardware development environments Experience with PDM/PLM systems Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs, electrical schematics Key Skills Mechanical design and modeling Technical documentation and drawing standards Cross‑functional collaboration Troubleshooting and root cause analysis Attention to detail and design quality Work Environment This is an on‑site role. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including eye protection, gloves, steel‑toe shoes, laboratory coat, and, in the plant, a hard hat. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required. Travel Up to 15% travel to client locations may be required. Compensation and Benefits $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year based on experience.
