Job Overview The Sr. Manager for Network Deployment & Initiatives sits at the intersection of rapid change, leading strategy and operations within the Network Infrastructure & Operations organization. The role determines and enables hardware deployment readiness, integrates deployment processes and strategy with financial and operational planning, and shapes deployment efficiency. The Sr. Manager builds and develops a high‑performing team of Senior+ engineers, coaching them to take ownership, grow as technical leaders, and drive outcomes with urgency and AI integration. Responsibilities Build, develop, and inspire a high‑performing team of Senior+ engineers; foster a culture of accountability, ownership, innovation, and continuous growth. Continuously improve team processes, tools, operational efficiency, and delivery velocity – building systems that scale. Own the organizational capex budget. Define deployment process and approach for pre‑General Availability technologies and emerging capabilities. Drive AI integration across team workflows, tooling, and operations – as a current expectation, not a future aspiration. Build and sustain trusted partnerships with stakeholders across internal and external partners; influence outcomes across organizational boundaries. Develop engineers into cross‑org technical leaders who drive direction and decisions beyond their immediate scope. Communicate strategy, progress, and risk to senior and executive leadership with clarity and business context. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and/or 8 years of related experience, OR Advanced degree with 6 years (Required). Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Preferred). 5+ years of People Management experience, including leading Senior+ level engineers (Preferred). Technical background in IP networking, systems architecture, or infrastructure engineering (Preferred). Experience managing organizational budgets and making investment trade‑offs (Preferred). Experience with external technology vendor partnerships and negotiations (Preferred). Strategic Thinking & Long‑Range Planning – determines standards, strategy and efficiencies for hardware deployment; turns long‑horizon goals into actionable roadmaps. Technical Credibility – sufficient technical depth to earn the trust of Senior+ engineers; guides architectural decisions and accelerates problem‑solving without being the executor. High Agency & Adaptability – moves with urgency; creates clarity in undefined spaces including pre‑GA technologies and greenfield capability areas. AI Integration & Innovation – actively integrates AI tools into engineering workflows and team operations today; builds a culture that experiments and operates at the frontier of emerging technology. Organizational Influence – influences decisions and aligns outcomes across NIO, T‑Mobile leadership, and external partners; credible with technical and non‑technical audiences at all levels. Financial & Resource Management – manages organizational budgets and resource allocation with rigor; translates financial decisions into business impact for leadership. Communication & Executive Presence – communicates complex strategy clearly and concisely; consistently builds confidence with senior and executive stakeholders. Operational Excellence – designs processes that allow teams to scale; manages competing priorities with discipline; drives continuous improvement in delivery and execution. Vendor Management – selects vendor partners capable of matching a world‑class, cost‑optimized deployment standard; holds partners accountable for performance and outcomes.
