Senior Technical Coordinator - Electronic and Mechanical

Job Summary Senior Technical Coordinator specializing in electronics and/or mechanical fabrication for the National Ignition Facility & Photon Science (NIF&PS) Directorate. Supports the Supply Chain Organization and operates within the Laser Systems Engineering and Operations (LSEO) Division of the Engineering Directorate. Full-time on‑site presence is required. Responsibilities Provide advanced procurement/coordination support to scientific, engineering, and technical personnel. Participate in or lead project teams to deliver acquisition support for senior technicians, technical associates, engineers, and scientists on medium to large projects. Apply knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials to purchase mechanical and/or electrical parts, including PCBAs, cable harnesses, and electro‑optical/mechanical assemblies of varying size and complexity. Research and recommend substitute products with similar technical specifications. Collaborate with suppliers, requestors, LLNL Procurement, production control, NIF warehouse, LLNL Receiving, and onsite fabrication shops to meet project cost and schedule requirements. Provide detailed award/delivery status updates to supervisors and customers/requesters, anticipating and reconciling supply issues. Stage, transport, and deliver parts across the LLNL site; deliver and pick up parts from local suppliers. Initiate purchasing requisitions, secure contracts, purchase items using LLNL‑issued credit card, and resolve issues for successful completion. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q‑level security clearance. Associate degree in mechanical/electronic technology or equivalent combination of education and experience in mechanical/electronic fabrication. Advanced understanding of ANSI/ASME standards (International Electronic Standards or ASME Y14.5M Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ability to interpret BOMs for component‑level procurement. Advanced knowledge of the fabrication acquisition process, including approvals, bidding, award, inspection, acceptance, receipt, reconciliation, and close‑out. Effective written, verbal, feedback, and presentation communication skills. Effective interpersonal, teamwork, and multitasking skills; ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. Advanced skills in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to safely operate pickup trucks, lift and carry up to 25 pounds, and secure loads for transport. Ability to travel and maintain flexibility in scheduled work hours for training activities on and off‑site. Desired Experience Electronic procurement or electronic technician experience, including intermediate electronics shop processes. Mechanical fabrication procurement or experience as a machinist, sheet metal worker, or equivalent mechanical fabrication shop experience. Compensation Pay Range: $52.23 – $63.97 hourly, based on qualifications, experience, and business needs.
