Our EMPLOYEES are our greatest asset in meeting our mission to be an Oklahoma Agency of Excellence.Transmission Engineer SeniorPosition OverviewThe Transmission Engineer performs electrical engineering duties forthe T&D Engineering Department of the Grand River Dam Authority asassigned by the Sr. Manager, T&D Engineering.Supervision ReceivedReports directly to the Transmission Line Engineering Manager ordesignated supervisor.Supervised PersonnelNormally does not supervise any other positions. May assume specifictemporary supervisory duties for certain project functions and/ortraining duties.Essential job functions include, but are not limitedto:Develops, reviews, and directs engineering designs for all sizesand complexities:Generates/interprets PLS-CADD models, plan and profile diagrams,detail drawings and material lists.Produce estimates, schedules, and execution plans for assignedprojects.Draft scopes of work for engineering and constructioncontractors.Develop data sheets and specifications for equipment.Supports the bidding process for engineering and constructionservices and recommends award.Select equipment vendors.Has project responsibility for technical issues, engineeringinformation, reporting, and modeling pertaining to design of thetransmission system, including checkout of new facilities, engineeringsupport to technicians and modifications to improve existing highvoltage lines.Subject matter expert in the following tasks:Prepares project management documentation including schedules& estimates.Develops positive communication and productive relationships withfellow employees, industry contacts and customers.Performs engineering analysis, calculations, design, studies, andother duties associated with maintaining, constructing, and operatinghigh voltage transmission line facilities.Creates specifications; prepares bid documents; evaluates bidsreceived; prepares and presents reports and recommendations as requiredfor purchase of materials, equipment, services, and miscellaneous itemsassociated with high voltage transmission lines and other assignedprojects.Coordinates or verifies work of outside contractors and/orengineering firms concerning transmission line design activities;monitors work orders, project progress, change orders, and contractorpayments of assigned areas.After-hours work may be required under system emergency or stormconditions.Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:Functional competency with personal computers; prefer experiencewith Excel, Access, and Word.Must be capable of methodical analysis of complex technicalproblems.Must possess and demonstrate excellent writing and compositionskills.Familiarity with lockout tag-out procedures.Must be comfortable giving verbal presentations beforegroups.Has a grasp of concepts such as: structural design, foundationdesign, grading design, geotechnical engineering analysis, electricalcircuit analysis, statics, thermodynamics & electromagneticfields.Education, Training, Experience:Bachelor's degree in electrical or civil engineering from anaccredited college or university is required, a power emphasis ispreferred. Additional courses or practical experience in electricalpower transmission line design, systems analysis, computer programming,and project and facility management are desirable.Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a line engineer withan electric utility, or six (6) years with registration as aProfessional Engineer (PE).Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:Valid Oklahoma driver’s licenseValid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.If not registered, must have the ability to acquire PEregistration within 2 years of employment.Physical/Mental Requirements & WorkingConditions:Must be able to walk, climb stairs, crawl, work from ladders andelevated platforms. Must not have a fear of heights, confined spaces, orworking around high voltage equipment.Ability to lift, move, and carry weights of up to 50 lb. on anirregular basis.Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention tovisual and auditory detail. Manual dexterity is required for operationof test equipment, small tools, and the installation, adjustment, andrepair of control devices.Work is usually performed in an office environment with outdoorexcursions for design, testing, and troubleshooting of equipment whennecessary.Repair work may be performed outdoors and/or indoors in a highnoise/high temperature environment with possible work in confinedspaces. Emergency repair work may be required during inclement weatherand at any time in any season.Other information:Position is located at the Engineering & Technology Center inTulsa, OK.
