Electrical Power Plant Operator

Help

Operates electrical power plant AC and DC switchgear to control and distribute electrical power through primary and secondary electrical distribution systems.

Installs, modifies, inspects, trouble shoots, repairs, replaces and overhauls generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution switchgear, control components and other auxiliary equipment required for the operation of a 12 megawatt power plant consisting of four ea. 3000 KW generators, a remote 900 kilowatt power plant consisting of 1 ea. 850 KW generator set, and a remote 250 kilowatt power plant consisting of 1 ea. 250 KW generator set.

Operates, installs, inspects, repairs, troubleshoots, replaces and or overhauls chillers and all chiller plant support equipment chiller plant consists of twelve chillers ranging from 1300 ton to 1000, eight cooling towers, water pumps up to 3100 GPM, electrical motors from fractional to 125 HP, pneumatic and electronic control systems, pneumatic valves, level controllers and other associated equipment used in the operation of the central chiller plants. Performs preventive maintenance and other periodic inspections on all chillers and associated chiller plant equipment.

Operates, installs, modifies, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, replaces and overhauls large HVAC systems, HVAC subsystems and components such as large air handler units with capacities up to 138,200 CFM, hot water and steam boilers with capacities up to 4185 MBH, electric and pneumatic control systems, humidifiers, pumps, variable air volume (VAV) boxes, air conditioning units, evaporative coolers, steam valves, traps, gas/water valves and pressure regulators.

Operates an Energy Management and Control System (EMCS) used to monitor and control all HVAC systems within the facility. Utilizes established safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain safe and clean work environment.
