Provide cardiac output and hemodynamic profiling. Respond to Code Blue emergencies with CPR and airway maintenance. Utilize patient assessment skills and protocols to determine therapy efficacy. Perform respiratory therapies and oxygen delivery therapies, recommending efficient delivery methods. Obtain, analyze, and report arterial blood gases, co‑oximetry, and perform quality controls. Initiate, maintain, transport, and monitor mechanical ventilators, including conventional and non‑conventional modes. Assist physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures. Educate patients and families on therapy modalities. Demonstrate knowledge of infection control, safe body mechanics, and applicable regulations. Perform complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per established standards and training. Interpret evaluations and test results to determine treatment plans in consultation with the interdisciplinary team. Assess, stabilize, and treat neonates and pediatric patients per established respiratory protocols. Perform additional duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities ABG puncture and analysis (Required) Advanced CPR and airway management (Required) Oscillatory chest physiotherapy applications (Required) Application of non‑invasive oxygen therapies & devices (Required) Respiratory monitoring, pulse oximetry applications (Required) Medicated aerosol therapies, bronchial hygiene therapies, lung expansion therapies (Required) Basic spirometry (Required) Routine oxygen delivery, devices, and oximetry (Required) Non‑invasive high‑flow therapy (Required) Non‑invasive Heliox therapy (Required) Basic tracheotomy care (Required) Advanced tracheostomy care including tracheotomy tube change & de‑cannulation (Required) Non‑invasive bilevel application & management (Required) Invasive end tidal CO₂ capnography application & monitoring (Required) Basic airway management, suctioning (Required) Bronchoscopy assist (Required) Advanced conventional & non‑conventional ventilator management (Required) Utilize and adapt to state‑of‑the‑art technology, computer systems, and applications (Required) Effective oral and written communication (Required) Advanced hemodynamic monitoring & applications (Required) Arterial/venous line cannulation validation (Radial artery, Umbilical artery/vein) (Required) Endotracheal intubation validation (Required) Nitric oxide therapy (Required) Advanced airway management (Required) Pediatric/Neonatal oscillator applications & management (Required) Pediatric/Neonatal proning protocol applications & management (Required) The anatomy and physiology of the pediatric/ neonatal cardiopulmonary system and associated pathophysiology (Required) Pediatric/ neonatal resuscitation and stabilization (Required) Assessment of the pediatric/ neonatal patient, respiratory care procedures & pharmacology (Required) Respiratory care of the post‑operative pediatric patient (general and cardiac surgery) (Required) Respiratory care management of pediatric/ neonatal diseases (Required) Respiratory equipment used in the PICU, including therapeutic, monitoring and diagnostic equipment (Required) Conventional and unconventional pediatric/ neonatal mechanical ventilation (Required) Advanced experience with neonatal and pediatric critical care (Preferred) Education & Experience Associate’s degree (Required) Bachelor’s degree (Preferred) Field of study: Respiratory Care 2+ years neonatal and/or pediatric critical care clinical experience in an acute care setting (Required) NBRC credentials must be maintained as a condition of continued eligibility. All states require NBRC for new hires; incumbents may continue working with an approved, time‑limited transition period (Florida exception for legacy incumbents).
