As a Senior Software Development Engineer on the Data Platform team, you will design and build the backend systems that ingest, correlate, enrich, and serve billions of records across PitchBook's customer-facing products. You will own meaningful pieces of a complex, high-scale distributed platform end-to-end — from design through production — and be a trusted technical voice on the team. You have deep enough experience to operate with autonomy on hard problems, break down ambiguity into concrete engineering plans, and deliver without hand-holding. You know when to move fast and when to slow down and get the design right. You bring opinions to technical discussions, write code that others learn from, and actively make the engineers around you better. This is a backend-heavy, hands-on role. The problems are data problems: scale, correctness, latency, and quality across a pipeline that processes billions of records from multiple external sources.
