Clinical Trials Pharmacist - Non-Oncology
Required: Massachusetts pharmacist license in good standing. Hours: Mon-Fri 8am to 4:30 pm (may have earlier start and later finish days, not exceeding 5:30pm). No weekends, no major holidays, may need minor holiday coverage.
Description: Working in conjunction with the Clinical Trials Pharmacy (CTP) team, the CTP pharmacist:
- Dispenses research medication to subjects enrolled in clinical trials
- Ensures medication orders comply with approved protocols
- Reviews protocol documents and drafts dispense instructions
- Oversees the safe handling and preparation of investigational sterile and non-sterile medications
- Oversees technician activities and performs quality control checks
- Provides drug information to other health care professionals
- Triages and participates in sponsor monitoring visits and audits
- Reviews new protocols and amendments for drug safety and feasibility
- Promotes a culture of safety; adheres to established practices and policies of the department and notifies the manager of deviations in standard practices
- Acts as a liaison between CTP and compounding, as well as other areas within the department of pharmacy
- Reviews patient medications for appropriateness and drug interactions
- Complies with state and federal laws pertinent to pharmacy and investigational drug use
