About the Role:

The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Position Police Officer (GS-0083-07) to work at the 96 TW, 96 MSG, 96 SFS at Eglin Air Force Base.

The primary purpose of the position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and investigate crimes, arrest or apprehend violators, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions.

Typical 2026 salary range: $54,314 - $70,609 per year (including locality)

Telework Information: Position not eligible for telework

Travel Requirements: Up to 25% travel possible

Direct Hire Authority: NO 6-MONTH WAIT! Recently retired and/or retiring from MILITARY service ARE eligible for immediate appointment for AFTC positions. The 180-day waiting period has been waived for AFTC to hire recently retired and/or retiring service members.

Must have requirements or may not be considered:

Must have one year of armed law enforcement, corrections, or security experience.

Desired Skills:

-Ability to use firearms in emergency situations.

-Ability to use automated information systems to enter and extract data and to prepare reports.

-Knowledge of emergency services, tactics, and procedures, including weapons and chemical agents, negotiation, building layouts, terrorist threats and counter terrorism methods, search and rescue techniques, crowd and demonstration control, etc.

Major Duties:

-Perform the full spectrum of police officer duties within assigned jurisdictions

-Conduct Investigations & Surveillance

-Perform duties as a Base Defense Operations Center (BDOC) Controller

-Perform emergency response and incident command and control

Qualifications/Requirements:

PROBATIONARY PERIOD STATEMENT: (Required) - For All Positions

Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

Security Clearance:

Must be able to obtain and maintain and "Secret" security clearance.

Physical:

Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and maintain fitness standards.

Driver's License:

Must possess a current and valid driver's license)

Top 5-6 job related KSAs:

1. Knowledge of law enforcement procedures, training requirements and operating methods required to perform the full range of police officer activities independently.

2. Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls to prevent unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced.

3. Knowledge of appropriate use of force and self-defense techniques to protect oneself and others in threatening situations including the ability to subdue and control individuals as required.

4. Operate motor vehicles having a gross weight of 7,000 pounds or less, loading capacities of 1 ton or less, and 2- or 4-wheel drive to transport personnel and/or articles.

5. Work and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

6. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with community management, employees, and other law enforcement agencies.
