Preconstruction Manager

The Preconstruction Manager leads the company’s front-end project strategy and pursuit efforts across the Wilmington, NC and Raleigh, NC markets. This role is responsible for developing and executing winning strategies that drive new business, strengthen client relationships, and position the firm for continued growth. The Preconstruction Manager collaborates with a diverse team of industry professionals across multiple sectors—translating market opportunities into actionable pursuit plans, estimates, and proposals that align with company goals and client needs. Operating within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, this role plays a critical part in shaping how projects are secured and set up for success, offering strong visibility and impact for both rising and experienced professionals. Responsibilities Manage all activities associated with preconstruction services. Analyze existing and new projects to ensure compliance with internal workflows. Understanding contract language and commitments, consumer expectations, and scope of project. Collaborate with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effective cost reductions and constructability issues. Conceptually estimate in detailed fashion. Maintain high commitment to excellence. Manage the value management process throughout the completion of design. Consistently provide an accurate project scope and required resources necessary. Consistently submit bids within tight deadlines. Consistently provide leadership and guidance to estimating team. Consistently follow corporate processes, where applicable. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Building Construction from an accredited university, preferred; a combination of on-the-job experience and/or formal education may be substituted for the degree. Experience: 5+ plus years’ commercial construction project estimating experience. Required Skills Experience with healthcare, mixed-use, commercial, multi-family projects. Strong business acumen in project planning and management. Must be willing to do (take-offs, unit pricing, writing scope packages, leveling subs, etc.). Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Procore or similar), accounting and cost management software (Timberline or similar), scheduling software (Primavera P6 or similar) and Adobe.
