Job Description

This role focuses on operating and maintaining environmental and manufacturing control systems, including PLC programming and use, routine maintenance, and system troubleshooting for water and air sampling systems. You work primarily on water treatment and emission control systems monitored through PLC and HMI interfaces, ensuring reliable operation and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate environmental and manufacturing control systems, including PLC-based and HMI-monitored equipment, to support safe and efficient plant operations.
• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on water treatment and air emission systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
• Troubleshoot and repair pumps, hydraulic motors, filtration systems, and related mechanical components to restore proper function.
• Conduct water and air sampling activities and verify that systems operate within required environmental and regulatory parameters.
• Calibrate pH monitoring systems and related instrumentation to ensure accurate readings and effective process control.
• Replace spark plugs and perform other mechanical adjustments and repairs on relevant equipment and machinery.
• Use PLC troubleshooting techniques to diagnose control issues and assist in correcting programming or configuration problems.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and system adjustments in accordance with established procedures and regulatory standards.
• Follow preventive maintenance schedules and recommend improvements to maintenance practices and system reliability.
• Adhere to all safety, environmental, and operational regulations while working in an industrial setting.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience operating environmental or manufacturing control systems, including PLC programming and use.
• Proven ability to conduct routine maintenance and system troubleshooting on industrial equipment.
• Experience working with water treatment systems and air emission systems controlled by PLC and HMI monitoring.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for pumps, hydraulic motors, and filtration systems in an industrial environment.
• Ability to calibrate pH systems and maintain accurate process measurements.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in repair and maintenance of industrial machinery.
• Experience with preventive maintenance practices in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Knowledge of PLC control and PLC troubleshooting in a production or environmental control context.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with PLCs and HMIs used for monitoring and controlling industrial processes.
• Experience in water treatment operations and maintenance.
• Familiarity with air emission systems and associated regulatory considerations.
• Experience with hydraulics and mechanical repair in an industrial environment.
• Automotive repair experience, providing a strong foundation in mechanical diagnostics and repair.
• Ability to work with industrial maintenance tools and equipment in loud and dirty environments.

Work Environment

The role is based in a loud, dirty, industrial environment where you work around heavy equipment, water treatment systems, and air emission control systems. You operate within a setting governed by numerous regulations and system procedures, requiring strict attention to safety and compliance. Work involves regular interaction with PLC and HMI technologies, mechanical and hydraulic components, and industrial maintenance tools.

This is a Contract position based out of Tacoma, WA.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Tacoma,WA.
