PWSC Adjunct Faculty - AHA CPR and Basic First Aid

Prince William Sound College is seeking two adjunct instructors to teach American Heart Association CPR and basic first aid workshops for students, community members, and industry partners.

PWSC teaches American Heart Association programs in partnership with the Southern Region Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. AHA Training Center. We are looking to build instructor capacity so we can offer workshops during daytime, evening, and weekend hours based on community and industry demand.

Adjunct instructors will teach AHA CPR, AED, and basic first aid workshops using approved American Heart Association curriculum, instructional materials, and hands-on skills practice. Workshops are expected to serve small groups of approximately 6 students per session. Depending on demand, instructors may teach approximately 2–4 workshops per term or as needed. Scheduling will be coordinated based on instructor availability and training requests from the community, local employers, and industry partners.

PWSC is looking to build instructor capacity for:
• Daytime workshops
• Evening workshops
• Weekend workshops
• Community and industry-requested training sessions

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds. Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student success and achievement. Ability to collaborate with colleagues, industry partners, and stakeholders to enhance program quality and relevance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience teaching CPR, AED, and basic first aid. Be willing to complete the steps to obtain or already have a American Heart Association Heartsaver Instructor certification. Applicants certified through another recognized CPR or first aid training organization are encouraged to apply. PWSC may be able to assist qualified applicants with becoming certified through the American Heart Association and aligned with the Southern Region Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc. AHA Training Center.
