RME Senior Mechanical & Robotics Technician

This role serves as a Maintenance Technician III, leading a team of service technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of automated packaging and distribution equipment. You design and implement solutions for complex mechanical and robotics challenges, support the Operations Maintenance team, and manage technical projects that keep high-volume distribution systems running safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of service technicians in day-to-day maintenance activities for automated packaging and distribution equipment.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial automation systems, including mechanical, robotics, and conveyor equipment.
• Support the Operations Maintenance team by analyzing complex equipment issues and designing effective technical solutions.
• Manage maintenance and improvement projects from planning through execution, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
• Coordinate and perform preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
• Diagnose mechanical and robotics system failures and implement corrective actions to restore optimal performance.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and system throughput.
• Document maintenance activities, repairs, and project progress in a clear and organized manner.
• Promote and follow safety procedures and best practices while working with industrial machinery and automation systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians to enhance team capability and performance.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on automated packaging and distribution systems.
• Proficiency in installation, troubleshooting, and repair of conveyor systems and related mechanical equipment.
• Ability to lead and coordinate a team of service technicians in a fast-paced industrial environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design solutions for complex mechanical and robotics issues.
• Experience supporting operations-focused maintenance teams and collaborating across departments.
• Capability to manage technical maintenance projects, including planning, execution, and follow-up.
• Solid understanding of safety practices and procedures when working with industrial automation equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with robotics or automated material handling systems in a distribution or manufacturing setting.
• Background in industrial, mechanical, or electrical maintenance in high-volume operations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, such as equipment manuals and mechanical diagrams.
• Strong communication skills to coordinate work, provide updates, and share technical guidance with team members.
• Organizational skills to balance project work, preventive maintenance, and urgent repair activities.

Work Environment

You work in a high-volume distribution and packaging facility that relies on automated conveyor systems, robotics, and industrial machinery. The environment is fast-paced and operations-focused, with a strong emphasis on equipment reliability and safety. You spend most of your time on the floor, working hands-on with tools and automation equipment, inspecting systems, performing repairs, and coordinating activities with technicians and operations staff. Work may involve standing for extended periods, accessing equipment at various heights, and working around moving machinery while adhering to established safety protocols and site procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Woodbridge, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.65 - $42.65/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
