Chicago Area | Hybrid, Onsite Only a Few Days per Month | Contract-to-Hire or Direct Hire

I’m hiring a Security Engineer II for a large healthcare organization in the Chicago area. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on security professional who wants ownership , not a narrowly siloed security role.

\n

\n

The team is looking for someone who started with a solid IT foundation and progressed into cybersecurity. You’ll take technical ownership of 2–3 enterprise security applications , lead and support security projects, improve controls, automate processes, troubleshoot issues, and help determine the operational strategy for the technologies you own.

\n

\n

This is not a SOC monitoring-only position . They want an engineer who can get into the technology and drive it.

\n

\n

What I’m looking for:

\n

\n
• 8–10 years of overall IT experience preferred, including 4+ years in cybersecurity
\n
• Hands-on Security Analyst/Security Engineer background
\n
• Experience implementing, administering and owning enterprise security tools
\n
• Strong automation/scripting experience with Python and/or PowerShell
\n
• Security incident investigation and response
\n
• Vulnerability management and threat detection
\n
• Endpoint, network, application and cloud security
\n
• Experience with technologies such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, DLP, PAM, IDS/IPS, CSPM, CNAPP or SOAR
\n
• Strong documentation and process-development skills
\n
• Ability to independently lead security projects and work across IT teams
\n
• Bachelor's degree required
\n
• Security certification such as CISSP, Security+ or similar
\n
• Understanding of NIST, HIPAA and PCI
\n

\n

\n

CrowdStrike Falcon / EDR / DLP | Tenable Security Center | Microsoft E5 | Delinea PAM | Qualys | xDome/Medigate | Prisma | Cisco FTD

\n

\n

Location: Chicagoland. Hybrid with onsite meetings only a couple of days per month at Chicago-area locations.

\n

\n

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship. U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder only. No C2C.
