Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact Certifications: BLS certification, ACLS certification, PALS certification, TNCC certification, De-Escalation certification Must-Have: - BLS certification via AHA required - ACLS certification via AHA required - PALS certification via AHA required - TNCC certification required - De-Escalation certification required Description: This is a very high acuity unit. Contractors will see a heavy load of strokes, cardiovascular cases, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, and sepsis cases. There will also be some trauma cases, but this is not a trauma-designated unit. The competent nurse practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care with the ability to plan for long-range goals. Continuously develops the ability to cope with and manage the contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies. Utilizes the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatment. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
