Annual Patient Volume: 24,000 Specialties: Lab services and imaging (CT and X-ray) Coverage Model: Physicians work 7a-7p and 7p-7a Number of Beds: 14 beds EMR: Cerner (PowerNote ED) with Dragon capabilities $295/hour Qualifications Education: MD/DO with a three-year residency Board Certification: ABEM/ABOEM or ABIM/ABFM with emergency medicine experience. Experience: Emergency Medicine residency or 1+ years of emergency medicine experience as an MD or DO. Badges: ABFM and ABIM physicians would be required to obtain and maintain ATLS, BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP (all need to be obtained through American Heart Association). Facility & Clinical Details About South Texas Health System ER Weslaco: STHS ER at Weslaco is a free-standing ED. This 24/7 facility offers nine treatment spaces, including six examination rooms, three triage bays, advanced imaging services, an on-site laboratory, and will provide general emergency services on an outpatient basis for trauma and observation care. Community Information : A literal stone's throw from the southern border, Weslaco is part of the McAllen Metro Area. It is an area teeming with Mexican culture while offering the amenities of the US. View flowers, foliage and citrus varieties native to this lush, subtropical climate, or get up close and personal with area wildlife. The area offers great schools, affordable living, and low crime rates. It is all about an hour west of the coast, and 2.5 hours south of Corpus Christi.
