The Pediatric Critical Care Clinical Manager will serve as the clinical pharmacist for the pediatric critical care services (pediatric intensive care, pediatric cardiac and pediatric neurosciences) with some coverage of neonatal services. The clinical pharmacy manager will serve as the pharmacist liaison within the pediatric critical care division and interdisciplinary meetings. Essential Job Duties Maintain a liaison relationship with the covered service through participation in patient care rounds and involvement in joint projects with the Department/Division/Service covered. Identify problems/issues in specific patients and promote rational drug use on a case-by-case basis (includes therapy selection, monitoring and assessment of outcomes of therapy). Provide drug information to providers covering the service and the patients covered by the Service(s) identified. Report adverse drug reactions for patients on service. Develop, implement, manage and report results pertinent to continuous quality improvement and expense reduction programs related to the patients serviced. Develop medication use valuations, treatment protocols/guidelines/clinical pathways, and other products/services that fulfill these goals. Act as secretary or member of multidisciplinary committee(s) overseeing, developing, implementing and managing policies for the care delivered to the patients serviced. Provide training and educational programs for undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students, universities, and healthcare providers at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Assist in the process of budget forecasting for pharmaceuticals based upon knowledge of ongoing research for new drugs and indications and trending of current consumption. Develop and deliver educational programs for patients cared for at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Perform research in areas of interest, especially those parallel to departmental goals and objectives, and submit manuscripts for publication or presentation at local, state, or national meetings. Participate in supervisory functions for pharmacy staff including interviewing candidates for pharmacy management and staff positions. Recommend corrective action for pharmacy staff for supervisor implementation and administer performance evaluations when applicable. Provide guidance related to pharmacotherapy decisions. Perform other duties as outlined by the Pharmacy Director, Drug Use Policy of New York Presbyterian Hospital, including departmental Administrator-on-call. Perform all duties inherent to the managerial role and participate in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to hospital policies and procedures. Perform other special projects and duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Completion of PGY2 Residency in Solid Organ Transplant. Required Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or PharmD. New York State Pharmacy License or eligibility to obtain license within 3 months.
