API Developer/Data Engineer Managing Consultant

Salary: $130,000 - 216,000 per year Requirements:

• We need a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• We require at least 5 years of experience in data engineering, systems integration, or platform engineering.
• We need strong hands-on expertise in Python, Java/JavaScript, .NET (C#), RESTful APIs, XML, and SQL, including SQL Server.
• We need experience integrating APIs with enterprise applications, databases, and third-party systems.
• We need proficiency working with multiple data formats, such as CSV/TXT, JSON, XML, and Parquet.
• We need experience building data pipelines, developing ontology or data models, and mapping relationships across systems.
• We need experience working in cloud environments, especially Google Cloud Platform, for scalable transformation, enrichment, and analytics workflows.
• We need a solid understanding of data modeling, schema alignment, and metadata management in integrated environments.
• We need experience implementing data quality, validation, and governance controls.
• We need familiarity with cloud security and access controls, including IAM, encryption, and audit logging.
• We need proven ability to lead technical workstreams, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across cross-functional, matrixed teams.
• We need to be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust clearance.
• We require candidates to be located within the United States.
• Preference is given to candidates located in the DMV area.
• Candidates outside the DMV should be prepared to travel up to 25–50%.
• Nice-to-have experience includes API gateways such as Apigee, Kong, Azure API Management, or AWS API Gateway.
• Nice-to-have experience includes entity validation or entity resolution solutions.
• Nice-to-have experience includes consulting experience and delivering solutions in matrixed organizations.
• Nice-to-have experience includes AI/ML-enabled data products, especially those using unstructured data like NLP, document processing, or image analytics.
• Nice-to-have experience includes ontology-driven applications, graph-based data modeling, and relationship analytics.
• Nice-to-have experience includes RBAC and auditability compliance.
• Nice-to-have experience includes financial crime, fraud, or monitoring systems and related tools such as Oracle Mantas, Actimize, Fircosoft, LexisNexis Bridger, World-Check, Dow Jones, Chainalysis, Elliptic, or TRM Labs.

• We lead the design, development, and deployment of data integration and API solutions across related data platforms.
• We architect and deliver end-to-end data pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, validation, and delivery of structured and unstructured data.
• We create and maintain ontology models, schemas, and relationship mappings to support analytics, search, and operational use cases.
• We integrate data across multiple platforms and systems using scalable and secure patterns.
• We partner with data engineering, analytics, product, and security teams to ensure interoperability and data consistency.
• We implement validation, quality assurance, and governance processes, including completeness checks, schema validation, and metadata integrity.
• We support AI-enabled capabilities such as semantic search, entity resolution, and analytics by enabling high-quality data pipelines.
• We work within an Agile delivery model, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, user stories, and iterative solution delivery.
• We translate business and mission needs into technical requirements and scalable integration designs.
• We ensure compliance with security, privacy, and audit expectations, including role-based access controls, logging, and data protection standards.
• We drive technical design decisions, mentor junior engineers, and serve as a technical lead in a matrixed team environment.
