LOCATION: CT - Orange - 100 Marsh Hill Rd Work-Type : OFFICE SALARY RANGE: The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location ranging from $96,000 to $120,500 Job Summary: The Electrical Engineer in projects organization will be responsible Substation designs across major capital projects, while also contributing to engineering standards and training initiatives. This role will oversee the engineering activities for the assigned project portfolio, ensuring all work complies with applicable regulations, adheres to company standards, and is executed with consistency and technical excellence. Position reports to the Unit Manager, but the position will work day-to-day in cross functional project team and support project needs as dictated by the Project Manager and Unit Manager. Experience with substation design and single one-line diagrams and knowledge of national and international standards, regulations, and compliance requirements associated with power system protection. Responsibilities: Project detailed engineering, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles including all phases such as: scoping and budgeting, conceptual engineering, engineering design, construction, and closeout. Maintain, & understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams, etc,). Develop & specify equipment, assemble documents & other requirements for assignments of projects using depth & breadth of expertise in own discipline. Perform electrical engineering analyses and design using established methods and principles. Contribute to alternate design concepts under guidance to resolve challenges or improve processes. Assist in solving engineering challenges by analyzing potential solutions using standard procedures related to lines and power systems. Ensure all engineering designs implemented by the company meet applicable company, local, state, and national codes and standards. Ability to collaborate across departments. Work independently although supervision might be required. Engineering documentation – Ability to adequately document and interpret engineering documentation Ability to review engineering work done by others to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and contract requirements Knowledge of Regulatory and Compliance Environment – Local, State and Federal Regulatory Standards and requirements Substation Material Selection Substation Electrical Specifications Physical Substation Design Project Scoping and Estimating Equipment Specifications Construction and Outage Sequencing Industry Codes, Standards, and Regulations Functional/job/business specific Competencies knowledge of the regulatory environment including relevant output and incentive mechanisms. knowledge company, local, state, and national codes and standards. Knowledge in Substations design is a must. Knowledge of Construction for utility environments or large corporations.
