System Security Specialist

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), Production System Services bureau is made up of four distinct and separate sections and responsible for the technical infrastructure supporting all FDLE server systems, storage, data center facilities, and database administration. FDLE requires the services of one System Security Specialist for Production System Services initiatives and other FDLE Information Systems. The System Specialist will work under the direction of the FDLE's Data Processing Manager(s) to achieve the goals and objectives of the projects stated below. The person in this function will be responsible for technical research of technologies and methods for meeting the functional and nonfunctional requirements.

Responsibilities include designing and implementing cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure or Microsoft 365 that meet Judiciary requirements and adhere to both industry best practices and cybersecurity requirements. The System Specialist will administer and troubleshoot Microsoft Entra (formerly Azure Active Directory). They will create a comprehensive security plan to implement leveraging services such as Windows Defender, Data Loss Prevention, and Advanced Threat Protection. They will modernize on-premises applications, leveraging Azure services. The System Specialist will integrate third-party applications in conjunction with vendor support. They will provide Tier-3 support assisting IT staff around the nation with in-depth technical support and troubleshooting advanced problems. They will communicate technical issues to both a nontechnical and technical audience with excellent customer service skills. The System Specialist will develop and maintain project documentation such as infrastructure diagrams, installation documentation, upgrade assessments, and knowledge-based articles. They will lead Azure related projects independently or through collaboration with team members. They will support Microsoft 365 products such as Office 365 Apps and Services, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. They will monitor Microsoft 365 and Azure services and prepare reports on usage and system health. The System Specialist will serve as a Microsoft Windows escalation resource and mentor team members. They will demonstrate attention to detail and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

System Security Specialist responsibilities include but may not be limited to acting as the primary technical expert in the Microsoft 365 domain. They will develop, configure, and maintain the organization's Microsoft 365 environment. They will translate business requirements into architectural designs and effectively communicate them to C-level executives. They will lead end-to-end implementations of Microsoft 365 workloads, ensuring seamless integration. They will offer guidance to the IT management team on current and emerging Microsoft 365 technologies. They will generate comprehensive documentation for both current and future cloud solutions, detailing both high-level overviews and specific technical configurations. They will assess Microsoft 365 platform governance needs and evaluate security configuration options. They will provide expertise and lead significant service migrations to Microsoft 365. They will collaborate closely with Infosec teams to ensure that designs adhere to information security best practices and organizational requirements. They will regularly conduct assessments of Microsoft 365 and cloud environments to identify and address critical deficiencies. They will produce technical documentation for cloud solutions and projects, covering processes, procedures, troubleshooting steps, training materials, and change management protocols at an expert level. They will mentor and coach other members of the IT team to enhance their skills and knowledge. They will take ownership of solutions and provide subject matter expertise throughout the organization's software development life cycle (SDLC) process.

Mandatory knowledge, skills, and abilities include 3+ years of experience in Azure and O365 services, including Exchange Online, Azure Security and Compliance, Power Platform, Identity, and Microsoft Teams. They will have an advanced background in managing Azure Directory Sync in a hybrid environment. Experience working with Microsoft Windows Server OS (2016, 2019, 2022) is required. Knowledge of Azure and O365 application and infrastructure architecture is necessary. Practical and in-depth understanding of networking principles is required. Ability to design, implement, and support Microsoft 365 Government (GCC) environments is needed. Experience using PowerShell to manage, configure, and troubleshoot Windows servers and Microsoft 365 environments is required. Skilled in leading projects and providing architectural input for system designs.
