Systems Biology is an interdisciplinary department that is pushing the boundaries of cancer research by integrating technology development, bioengineering, data science, and systems biology. The primary purpose of this Research Assistant II position is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects. The secondary purpose is to maintain laboratory equipment, samples and reagents. The ideal Research Assistant II candidate will have hands-on experience in molecular biology, next-generation sequencing, and human tissue processing. Experience with 10x Genomics assays, tissue sectioning, and staining is strongly preferred, along with the ability to support laboratory operations and research coordination. Minimum $21.63 - Midpoint $27.16 - Maximum $32.69

LAB DUTIES (40%)
• Coordinate and conduct laboratory experiments to support research projects
• Collaborate with lab members to advance ongoing research initiatives
• Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, Western blotting, molecular cloning, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, and transfection
• Dissociate human tissue samples and prepare samples for next-generation sequencing-compatible experiments
• Perform sequencing library preparation workflows
• Utilize imaging techniques and flow cytometry in experimental analysis
• Conduct routine and advanced cell culture procedures RECORD KEEPING / DATA MANAGEMENT (20%)
• Assist with administrative processes related to human tissue sample collection
• Record and evaluate experimental data according to established methodologies
• Maintain accurate tracking of human samples, generated data, and storage locations GENERAL LAB ORGANIZATION & LAB SAFETY (40%)
• Support the Principal Investigator in research and laboratory operations
• Order reagents, equipment, and laboratory supplies as needed
• Coordinate maintenance and operational readiness of laboratory equipment
• Construct, assemble, and operate laboratory apparatus and instrumentation
• Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and compliance with safety protocols
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements EDUCATION
• Required: A Bachelor's Degree Basic Science
• Preferred: A Master's Degree Basic Science and a Medical Degree WORK EXPERIENCE
• Required: One year Scientific or experimental research work experience or no experience required with preferred degree
