Certified Pharmacy Technician

K2 is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician to support our clinic out of Boston, MA in a full-time capacity. 

The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacy team in the administrative and technical operations of the pharmacy. This role involves assisting in the development and continued evaluation of a training process for Clinic staff interacting with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures (i.e., drug accountability, storage, administration of doses, and proper documentation of the trail of study drug to and from the pharmacy).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Drug Management & Compliance: This role assists staff in the receipt, storage, dispensing, and return of drug products while acting as a liaison with Pharmacy management, Clinical teams, Project Managers, and Operations. This role prepares and reviews the accuracy of labels, assists in packaging of doses, and accounts for all dosage units entering and leaving the Clinic per FDA regulations and guidelines and per study protocol requirements. The technician assures proper protocol and regulatory procedures are followed in the receipt and handling of drug by team members and other staff responsible for dosing.
• Quality Assurance: This role assists in assuring that study drug product prepared and/or checked by pharmacy technical staff is of the highest quality standards to ensure the safety of the study participants and integrity of the study. This includes assisting with the completion of all required in-house sterile technique skills tests for all staff.
• Training & Development: This role assists in the continued evaluation of a training program for Clinic staff that interacts with the pharmacy, to assure compliance with pharmacy procedures.
• Sponsor Relations & Study Close-Out: The Pharmacy Technician interacts with sponsors and clients in regard to potential and on-going studies, explaining K2 Med procedures and responding to sponsor/client requests regarding handling of drug, close-out issues, and other operational matters. This role assures close-out of studies are handled properly, including ensuring drug is returned to sponsor, stored correctly, or otherwise managed depending on protocol and sponsor requirements.
• Additional Duties: The Pharmacy Technician performs other duties as assigned to support the expanding needs of both Phase 1 and outpatient pharmacy operations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of aseptic techniques and IV
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
• Strong written and oral communication skills

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities in a calm, professional manner
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to adapt to increasing workload demands and support dual pharmacy operations

Qualifications:

• Registered Pharmacists or PharmD preferred
• 2+ years pharmacy technician experience
• Pharmacy technician certification required, licensed with the Board of Pharmacy
