A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT (PTA) In collaboration with Physical Therapists, assists in the development of a plan of care to promote optimal functional independence and safety as documented by the clinical record. Plans for and provides skilled physical therapy treatment, including restorative and maintenance therapeutic techniques, patient/caregiver education, and assessment of patient status and progress on each visit, ensuring quality of care as documented in the clinical record. Assists in coordinating patient care with other clinical team members, including but not limited to physicians, nurses, caregivers, physical therapists, other rehab services and students, ensuring optimal patient care and communication as noted in the clinical record. Actively remains vigilant to identify and report changes in patient conditions related to the prescribed plan of care and takes action to report changes in patient status to the case manager in a timely manner. Completes and coordinates required paperwork in compliance with federal and state regulations, organizational and departmental policies and standards of care, and APTA guidelines to ensure that documentation reflects care provided and outcomes achieved, as evidenced in the clinical record. Qualifications Associate’s degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited university or college (required). Valid Vermont State Physical Therapist Assistant license (required). Prior physical therapist assistant experience preferred. Valid Driver’s License.
