Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Hospitalist Advanced Practice Provider (APP) / Nocturnist APP, you will be a vital part of Mercy Medical Group's award-winning hospitalist program in the Sacramento area. In this role you will provide critical cross-coverage care to hospitalized patients, including facilitating admissions, consults, transfers, and discharges under physician supervision. You will be instrumental in acute triage, assessing and managing acute changes in patient conditions, and maintaining accurate, timely, and thorough patient care records. Collaboration is key; you will work closely with attending physicians, medical specialists, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care across Dignity-affiliated hospitals in the Sacramento area. To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong foundation in hospital medicine, demonstrating proficiency in direct patient care and acute patient assessment. You will thrive in a dynamic, night-shift environment. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential for effective teamwork within our multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Opportunity Highlights: Join an award-winning hospitalist program with more than 100 providers Work in a collegial and supportive environment The Hospitalist Program serves 5 major hospitals in the Sacramento area, the Nocturnist APP may work at two primary sites Hospitalists self-schedule themselves on a periodic basis, based on a flexible-scheduling model Key Responsibilities: Direct patient care: Provide cross-coverage care to hospitalized patients as well as facilitate patient admissions, consults, transfers, and discharges, under the supervision of a hospitalist physician Acute triage: Assess and manage acute changes in hospitalized patient conditions Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, thorough records detailing patient care and transfer center requests at night Collaboration and communication: Work with attending physicians, medical specialists, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care Scheduling/Structure: Full-time clinical hospitalist position (1.0) Night shifts will be scheduled as 10-hour shifts, with flexible scheduling Maintains privileges at all Dignity-affiliated hospitals No procedures 165 shifts per year Compensation & Benefits: Compensation Range: $161,000 - $166,000 / Year DOE Sign-on bonus available Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability 401(k) with employer matching, pension plan, and CME allowance Malpractice coverage provided Job Requirements Physician Assistant (PA) with relevant acute care experience Minimum of 2 years of experience as an APP in an acute care setting encouraged but not required Active California medical license (or ability to obtain) DEA certification Where You'll Work Mercy Medical Group (MMG) is a dynamic, growing organization with a long-standing history of providing exceptional medical care in the Sacramento area.
