About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years of medical surgical experience required. Traveler must have stepdown/PCU experience as well as MS experience. License: Must have a valid state license. Certifications: BCLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Must be comfortable floating between stepdown and MedSurg/tele units frequently. Must be okay with the patient ratios of 1:4-5 in Stepdown and 1:5-6 in MedSurg. Travelers without pediatric experience will not see pediatric patients. First-time travelers accepted. No license or background hits accepted. Must comply with COVID-19 and flu vaccine requirements with exemptions allowed. Description: This is a stepdown role that frequently floats to MedSurg and MedSurg/Tele units. You will be required to have experience in both settings. Patient ratios for stepdown are 1:4-5 and for MedSurg, 1:5-6. You should confirm your comfort with floating frequently. Pediatric experience is not required, and travelers without pediatric experience will not treat pediatric patients. You will need to work weekdays, every other weekend, and holidays as needed. Preferred skills include blood product administration, feeding tube care and management, use of rapid response/code teams, and isolation precautions. This unit has an average daily census of 23 and features 29 beds. Interdisciplinary support is available, including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. Special equipment includes a Teleneuro cart. You will be expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff. Floating will occur within the facility and will comply with current standards. Be prepared to receive an appropriate orientation if you are floating to a new unit. The return staff policy requires you to be gone for one year and to have been in good standing at the time of departure. Modules must be completed prior to the assignment start and can be self-reported.
