Controls Technician

Job TitleMonitors the control systems of automated equipment. To do their job, they often use software to verify that the controls are within certain parameters. When controls exceed or fall below specifications, they must quickly troubleshoot the problem to avoid or minimize interruptions to production.ResponsibilitiesRead, interpret, and provide red line feedback with electrical and pneumatic schematicsBuild, wire, and assist in commissioning of electrical and pneumatic automated control systemsUse Client Machine Drafting Standards to supply equipment designs, schematics, and layoutsEstablish and maintain working relationships with vendors to ensure prompt and accurate deliveries of materialsInstall and assist commissioning of new Automation assets, panel builds, and drawing updatesBuild control panels to NFPA79/UL508A standardsInitiates and maintains documentation throughout the development and qualification processAids in Capital equipment installationsTroubleshoot PLC and electrical control systemsPerform job duties in a safe and efficient mannerPerform other work-related duties as necessaryQualificationsEDUCATION: Associates Degree Industrial Instrumentation, ElectronicsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum 5 years' experience in Manufacturing Controls Systems. Proven track record of successful completion of projects involving software integration, calibration or troubleshooting. Ability to produce and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings. Strong written communication skills with a keen eye for details in documents.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Applied knowledge in statistics, problem solving, root cause analysis, process improvement and/or Six Sigma is desired.Demonstratable hands-on skill in fault finding and problem resolutionPLC and HMI programming experienceElectrical Schematic drawing experienceAbout UsHowmet Aerospace Inc.
