Business Operations Specialist

Position Overview Advanced Laser Systems Technology (ALST), part of Intelligent Manufacturing Solutions (IMS), is seeking a Business Operations Specialist located in Orlando, Florida. ALST specializes in electro‑optical laser systems for military defense applications worldwide and offers an alternative work schedule with a diverse team of professionals. Job Summary Responsible for site AFSO activities including visitor management and onsite access control. Acts as Trade Compliance representative ensuring import and export activities comply with international, federal, and local regulations. Oversees daily office operations, scheduling, travel coordination, and expense management. Key Responsibilities Information & Physical Security (Alternate Facility Security Officer): Backup support to the FSO, maintaining the organization’s industrial security program and Facility Security Clearance (FCL). Protect classified information, manage facility access, and oversee visitor management. Train employees and supervise security procedures. Assist with government audits. Trade Compliance: Secure licenses, audit shipments, and train staff. Oversee international travel. Identify and mitigate trade risks, including restricted party screenings and country‑of‑origin validation. Monitor changing trade laws, conduct internal audits, and execute corrective actions. Track and report daily and monthly trade compliance metrics. Office Operations: Provide administrative support for customer‑related activities, scheduling meetings, managing calendars, travel and expense coordination, and training. Assist leadership and staff, organize company events. Support HR/Recruiting with new hire and contractor onboarding, citizenship verifications, building access badging, new hire training, timecard and building access training. Manage IT asset list and assist with IT issues. Facility: Budget, track, and manage office supplies. Other duties as assigned. Required Capabilities U.S. Citizenship required. Ability to obtain and maintain a Personnel Security Clearance (PCL). Holder of DCSA Facility Security Officer Training Certification. Complete Certified Compliance Specialist training within 6 months of assignment. Work with and maintain confidential information. Strong project management and multitasking skills. Knowledge of FAR, DFAR, ITAR, and trade compliance laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities. Self‑motivation and high attention to detail. Willingness to take on new projects and learn additional aspects of the operation. Work efficiently under pressure and tight deadlines. Availability for additional hours, evenings, and weekends as required. Education / Experience High School Diploma plus 10 years of senior-level administrative support experience. 4+ years of experience conducting training on various business topics. 2+ years serving in an AFSO capacity. Experience with OCR EASE. Experience in a government contracting/manufacturing environment.
