Summary:
The Respiratory Therapy Team Lead provides clinical leadership and operational oversight for the Respiratory Therapy Department while maintaining direct patient care responsibilities. This position ensures high-quality respiratory care services, regulatory compliance, staff competency, and collaboration with physicians, nursing, and other departments to support excellent patient outcomes. The Team Lead serves as the primary resource for respiratory staff and assists leadership with department operations, quality improvement initiatives, scheduling, education, and policy implementation.
Responsibilities:
· Assists with staff scheduling and daily department assignments.
· Coordinates staffing to ensure adequate patient coverage.
· Participates in Equipment Maintenance and supply management.
· Participates in quality improvement initiatives.
· Assists with preparation for surveys and accreditation activities.
· Reviews documentation for completeness and accuracy.
· Collaborates with nursing leadership on respiratory education initiatives.
· Works collaboratively with physicians, nursing leadership, emergency department staff, surgery, and administration.
· Communicates operational issues and recommendations to hospital leadership.
Essential Functions:
· Provides direct respiratory care according to physician orders and evidence-based practice.
· Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
· Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Knowledge of mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gases, pulmonary diagnostics, and emergency airway management.
· Serves as a clinical resource for respiratory therapists and nursing staff.
· Assists with airway management, emergency response, rapid response, and code situations.
· Supports neonatal resuscitation, obstetric services, and emergency department respiratory needs.
· Ensures appropriate operation and maintenance of respiratory therapy equipment.
Requirements:Education and Experience Requirements
· Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
· Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential preferred.
· BLS certification required.
· ACLS certification required.
· PALS certification required.
· NRP certification required.
· Three to five years of clinical respiratory therapy experience.
· Previous leadership or charge therapist experience.
· Experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare setting.
· Experience with emergency, critical care, and obstetric respiratory services
