Food Service Cook: $20.00 per hour (one location)

Food Service Cook: $25.00 per hour (driver to multiple locations) - Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain a clean and acceptable driving record, and carry current personal automobile insurance coverage.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Food Services Cook at Heartbeat Music & Performing Arts Academy plays an essential role in ensuring students receive nutritious, safe, and well-balanced meals. This position is responsible for preparing and serving meals that meet the dietary needs of enrolled children while maintaining compliance with Title 22 Health and Safety regulations and Title 5 California State Preschool Program requirements.

The Food Services Cook will prepare meals in accordance with approved menus and nutritional guidelines and ensure that proper food handling, sanitation, and documentation standards are maintained. On rare occasions, based on business needs, you may be required to deliver prepared meals to HBMPAA preschool locations in Perris and Moreno Valley to support timely and efficient meal service across multiple sites.

• Plan and prepare nutritious meals for students while considering dietary restrictions, allergies, and nutritional guidelines.
• Prepare meals using approved ingredients and recipes that support the dietary needs of enrolled students.
• Prepare meals for preschool sites located at March Air Reserve Base, Perris, and Moreno Valley.
• Safely transport and deliver prepared meals to the Perris and Moreno Valley preschool sites.
• Ensure meals are wellbalanced, visually appealing, and served in appropriate portion sizes.
• Follow the approved meal menu and make appropriate adjustments when necessary to accommodate dietary needs or special occasions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment.
• Follow all Title 22 health and safety regulations related to food preparation and kitchen operations.
• Ensure proper food storage, handling, and cooking procedures to prevent foodborne illness.
• Maintain required documentation, including temperature logs, sanitation records, and cleaning schedules.
• Ensure meals and snacks meet Title 5 nutritional guidelines and program requirements.
• Maintain accurate records related to meal planning, preparation, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and academy personnel to ensure efficient and timely meal service.
• Communicate with parents or guardians regarding dietary restrictions or special meal accommodations when necessary.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Progressive experience in food service or commercial kitchen operations preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety practices, kitchen sanitation standards, and proper cleaning procedures.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow established food preparation guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fastpaced environment.
• Physical ability to perform kitchen duties, including standing for extended periods and lifting or moving kitchen supplies as needed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain a professional and positive demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and staff.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
• Preemployment physical examination, TB screening, and background clearance are required prior to the start of employment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required, as this position includes delivering meals to HBMPAA and affiliated program sites.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Standing for extended periods during site visits and kitchen inspections.
